Law enforcement officers seized more than 800 pounds of methamphetamine during a coordinated operation in Smyrna.

The seizure was the result of a joint investigation involving multiple agencies across Middle Tennessee. The Smyrna Police Department confirmed its participation in the targeted enforcement effort. Officials stated that intelligence sharing among the departments led to the capture of a substantial volume of narcotics.

The operation began earlier this year when the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area and the Middle Tennessee Drug-Related Death Task Force identified the trafficking network. The investigation drew in additional partners, including the Metro Nashville Police Department, the Murfreesboro Police Department, and the 18th Judicial Drug Task Force. These groups worked together to track the movement of illicit substances through the region.

In addition to the methamphetamine, officers recovered over 78 kilograms of fentanyl powder. The haul also included thousands of counterfeit dosage units of fentanyl pills. Investigators found more than $300,000 in cash, which they identified as suspected drug money. The Smyrna Police Department described the fentanyl as a direct threat to local neighborhoods.

“Illicit narcotics, particularly lethal quantities of fentanyl, present an immediate and devastating threat to our neighborhoods,” the Smyrna Police Department said in a statement. The department added that its active role in the TBI HIDTA Task Force reflects its commitment to keeping Smyrna safe. Officials noted that cross-jurisdictional collaboration allows agencies to intercept deadly drugs and dismantle criminal networks before they reach local streets.

The investigation remains open, and police have not yet released the identities of the suspects involved. The Smyrna Police Department indicated that additional details will emerge as the case progresses. The department is asking residents for help in identifying other participants in the trafficking ring. Anyone with information regarding illicit narcotics or suspicious activity in the Town of Smyrna can call the department at (615) 459-6644 or submit an anonymous tip through local Crime Stoppers.
