Dakota Davis, a 25-year-old corporal with the Prattville Police Department in Autauga County, Alabama, was killed in a motorcycle crash on October 31, 2026. The incident occurred just two and a half weeks after his marriage to Chloe Greiner-Davis. Family members and the department describe the collision as a freak accident in which no other parties were at fault.
Davis served as a police officer with the Prattville Police Department, a role his father, Paul Davis, said gave his son real purpose. The family noted that motorcycles were a lifelong passion for Davis, a hobby he had enjoyed since childhood. Greiner-Davis recalled her initial concern about his riding but acknowledged it was his calling. She stated, "My biggest thing was you could be the best driver on this planet, but other people just don’t know how to drive."
Paul Davis described his son as a man of few words who was intentional with his speech. "A man of few words, and he meant what he said. Deep into the heart. He didn’t say it unless he meant it," Paul Davis said. He added that Davis was outgoing and loved playing sports, but above all, he loved his family.
The family is preparing for a funeral service on October 31, which coincides with Halloween, a favorite holiday for Davis. Paul Davis shared a message for his son through tears, stating, "He is loved, and he is missed." Greiner-Davis expressed her grief over the short time they had together, noting, "I’m waiting for him to walk through the doors."
Greiner-Davis is now managing mortgage payments and moving expenses while continuing to work toward a master’s degree in elementary education. She described the challenge of handling these financial and personal burdens without Davis. The local community has responded to the loss by raising thousands of dollars in support for the newlywed couple.
Greiner-Davis said her message to her husband is simple. "I just want him to know that I love him. So much. I just love him so much," she said. The family remains in their home in Autauga County as they process the sudden loss and prepare for the upcoming funeral service.
