Metro Nashville Police have jailed three men in connection with an October shooting that began as an apparent marijuana transaction. The incident occurred on Hickory Hollow Terrace and resulted in one man being shot in the mouth.

Police said Calvin Howse Jr., 22, met Terrance Martin, 24, to buy marijuana. The two men allegedly got into an argument before a shootout started. Howse was hospitalized after being shot in the mouth, while Martin fled the scene.

On Tuesday, officers located Martin at a gas station on Bell Road. He was a passenger in a car driven by Paul Cowling, 22. Cowling tried to flee and dropped a firearm from the vehicle. Police quickly arrested both men. Investigators recovered the pistol, which police say Martin possessed, and more than 200 grams of marijuana from the car.

Martin faces charges for attempted criminal homicide, firearm and drug offenses, and violating bond conditions from domestic-violence cases. He is jailed on a $278,000 bond. Cowling is charged with firearm and drug offenses and has a $20,000 bond. Howse was arrested after leaving the hospital this week. He faces firearm and marijuana charges and is jailed on an $80,000 bond.

Two women were previously charged with tampering with evidence in this case. Police noted that a firearm magazine taken from the scene had not been recovered until now.
