53. That was the age of Tennessee state Sen. Brent Taylor when one woman received a nude photo from him in 2021. Taylor, a Republican from Memphis, confirmed Tuesday that he sent unsolicited photos to at least one woman. The news surfaced one week before Election Day. Taylor is running for reelection to the state Senate. He is also seeking Tennessee’s 9th Congressional District seat.

The Nashville Scene first reported the allegations on Tuesday, citing multiple sources. Taylor told Action News 5 reporter Joyce Peterson that the photos involved one woman. He described the incident as part of his past. In a statement to the Nashville Scene, he called them youthful indiscretions. One source told the outlet that Taylor sent the 2021 photo while serving in office.

Taylor said his wife knows about the photos. He claimed the couple worked through the issue a long time ago. “My God and my wife have forgiven me,” Taylor told the Nashville Scene. He added that he hopes others would do the same.

Taylor has served in the state Senate since 2023. He faces state Rep. Justin Pearson, a Democrat from Memphis, in the House race. Two independents, Dennis Clark and Michelle Head, also run in the 9th District. Pearson sent a statement to Action News 5 in response to the news. Taylor’s campaign has not issued a separate public statement.

The 9th District race includes voters in parts of Memphis and surrounding areas. Taylor’s dual candidacy means he appears on two ballots. Voters will choose their state senator and U.S. representative on November 3. The state Senate seat is also up for grabs in the same election.
