Three candidates for Tennessee governor will appear at a statewide forum on Tuesday night. The event is expected to be the only nonpartisan gathering of its kind in this year's race.

The Tennessee Press Association and Middle Tennessee State University are hosting the forum at 7 p.m. in Murfreesboro. WSMV4 will stream the event live. Tennessee voters will choose a new governor for the first time in eight years. Election Day is scheduled for Tuesday, November 3.

Democratic nominee Jerri Green has said she plans to participate. Independent candidates David Hatley and Lauren Pinkston have also confirmed their attendance. These three candidates will share the stage for the discussion.

Republican nominee Marsha Blackburn was invited to the forum but will not be participating. According to reports, Blackburn is hosting her own event in Hendersonville on the same night. Her absence leaves the MTSU forum as the primary nonpartisan platform for the remaining candidates.

The forum is designed to give voters a chance to hear directly from the candidates. This is the final major nonpartisan event before the November 3 election. The Tennessee Press Association organized the event in partnership with the university.
