Dead Gowns to perform at Drkmttr on Saturday

Dead Gowns performs at Drkmttr on Saturday at 8 p.m.

The band's frontwoman Geneviève Beaudoin is releasing her new album Vegas this week. The record details the end of a friendship during a trip to Las Vegas. Beaudoin currently lives in Maine, where she grew up. The album uses the desert setting to examine the relationship with precision and dry humor.

Lyrics from the track “Vegas Dream” describe a car rental mistake made after signing a contract without reading the fine print. The song “Salt Destroyer” outlines the end of a relationship in specific detail. The music continues the style found on the band's 2025 release It's Summer, I Love You, and I'm Surrounded by Snow.

The sound blends acoustic guitar interludes with arrangements that build into rock. Critics have compared the work to artists like Wednesday and Waxahatchee. The style sits within the Americana and indie-folk genres. Beaudoin's approach shares similarities with both Sierra Ferrell and Cat Power, using different musical idioms to create a subtle and addictive sound.
