Storms rolled into the Phoenix area on Friday morning, bringing heavy rain and hail to parts of the valley. The weather caused a disruption at a local school in El Mirage.

El Mirage Police Department officials reported that four adults were injured during the bus drop-off at El Mirage Elementary School. First responders arrived just after 8:30 a.m. to find the group conscious. All four individuals were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Fire Captain Joseph Rivera stated that no one was directly struck by the lightning. He noted that one woman was holding an umbrella when the strike occurred nearby. The woman reported feeling pain in both of her arms after the incident.

Carrie, a librarian working at the El Mirage Library across the street, was on duty when the storm hit. She described the thunder as loud enough to make her jump and said the building felt like it almost shook. She added that the strike triggered at least a dozen car alarms in the parking lot.

The incident took place during the first wave of fast-moving storms to affect the region that morning. Residents in Peoria, Sun City, and Buckeye reported seeing hail and heavy rain around 8 a.m.
