MLB Network named Atlanta Braves manager Walt Weiss a finalist for the National League Manager of the Year Award on Monday.
Weiss is competing against Philadelphia Phillies manager Don Mattingly and Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy. Murphy is seeking a third consecutive award in that category.
The Braves promoted Weiss from bench coach to manager after Brian Snitker retired following a 76-win season in which Atlanta missed the postseason for the first time since 2017. Under Weiss, the team won 94 games and captured its first National League East title since 2023.
Atlanta earned the No. 3 seed in the postseason and took two of three games from the Philadelphia Phillies at Truist Park in the National League Wild Card Series. The Braves then fell to the Los Angeles Dodgers in a five-game National League Division Series.
The Manager of the Year award will be announced on Nov. 10. Chris Sale, who is a finalist for the National League Cy Young Award, will find out if he earned his second Cy Young on Nov. 11.
Other National League finalists for BBWAA awards include Pete Crow-Armstrong, Shohei Ohtani, and Brice Turang for MVP; Jacob Misiorowski and Cristopher Sánchez for Cy Young; and Carson Benge, Sal Stewart, and JJ Wetherholt for Rookie of the Year.
