Isah Cristina Grados, 21, paid a $25,000 bond on Tuesday after detectives found 60 pounds of marijuana in two suitcases at Nashville International Airport. She was charged with felony drug possession with intent to sell.
The discovery happened during an afternoon sweep of an arriving Southwest Airlines flight from San Jose, California. A K9 narcotics officer named Peggy signaled a positive response to the scent of drugs in specific luggage. The officer identified Grados as the owner via the baggage tags. Detectives found her in the terminal while she was moving toward a connecting flight.
Grados allowed officers to search the bags. The affidavit states they found multiple vacuum-sealed bundles of marijuana inside. The total weight of the drug was recorded at 60 pounds. Tennessee law makes marijuana containing certain levels of THC illegal, and officers often monitor incoming luggage from California cities such as San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Sacramento.
Grados was arrested and held in custody. She posted the full bond amount the same day she was charged. The case is now pending in the criminal court system.
