Tennessee voters are casting ballots in the 2026 midterm election on Tuesday, Nov. 3, selecting candidates for governor, U.S. Senate, U.S. House, Tennessee Senate and Tennessee House seats. Some cities and counties are also holding local races. Polls remain open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. across the state.

Tennessee election officials reported that early voting concluded on Oct. 29 with nearly 1.3 million votes cast. That total is more than 45% higher than the number of early votes recorded during the 2022 midterm election. The current figure reflects the volume of participation in the days leading up to Election Day.

The Department of Justice announced at 6:25 a.m. on Tuesday that it is deploying its largest election monitoring effort in all 50 states. This deployment coincides with the opening of polls at 7 a.m. for voters across Tennessee. The federal monitoring effort is designed to observe the voting process in jurisdictions nationwide.

To vote on Election Day, Tennessee residents must be registered voters and bring a valid photo ID. The state accepts a Tennessee driver’s license, a state-issued photo ID or a federal government-issued photo ID. Expired IDs are also acceptable forms of identification for voting in the state.

The state maintains an online hub called GoVoteTN.gov to assist voters. The platform is also available as a free mobile app. Voters can use the tool to register, check their registration status, find their polling location, locate their county election commission and track absentee ballots. The resource is available for use on Election Day and in the days following the election.

Election Day is the final opportunity for Tennesseans to cast their votes in the 2026 midterms. The general election determines who will represent the state in its various offices for the coming term. Results are being tracked as the day progresses.
