Analog, the music venue inside the Hutton Hotel on West End Avenue, will host Broadway performers for two nights this weekend when "The Addams Family Musical" is presented as a concert. The shows are scheduled for Friday, Oct. 30, and Saturday, Oct. 31, Halloween night.

The concert grew out of the Off Broadway Concert Series, an idea from Rachel Potter, who moved to Nashville a few years ago after appearing in several Broadway productions. Her Broadway debut came in the role of Wednesday in "The Addams Family." Potter said she contacted Andrew Lippa, the show's composer and lyricist, about staging the piece. "I thought this would be a really fun opportunity to get a bunch of my old friends together," Potter said, describing her call to Lippa. "He was like 'I love it. Let's do it.'" Lippa joined the production along with other Broadway performers. The program covers the songs and some scenes from the musical.

Meredith DiMenna, director of marketing at the Hutton, said the venue began programming musical theatre as interest in the form grew locally. "As I started programming, we realized that musical theatre was growing and it has a very sort of dedicated audience," DiMenna said. She said performers moving to Nashville began reaching out to the hotel about staging work there.

The Halloween date shapes more than the set list. DiMenna said her team prepared themed food and drinks, roving characters, and a photo booth built around a replica of the Addams Family mansion. The setup starts at the hotel's West End Avenue entrance, a tunnel that runs from ground level to the second floor where Analog sits, and continues into the venue. DiMenna said VIP ticket holders receive additional programming.

Potter recruited Lippa and other Broadway performers for the concert. DiMenna said the venue wants to keep building this kind of programming. "Musical theatre is a growing genre here in town, and we look at this to become sort of foundational for Analog's programming," she said.
